Lynx Newsletter # 2 (November 8, 2001)

Some relatively new features in the system . . .

Print a single mailing label. Do you ever need to print just a single mailing label from a partially used sheet of blank labels? Now you can. Select this feature from the "Options" button on the account and then choose the label location to print.

Snow Bird addresses. Ever have customers that you deliver to year round, but who spend part of the year at a different location. Up north we call them "Snow Birds". Now, rather than having to remember both addresses and manually change them back and forth, just use this feature. Left-click the "Change" button on the account. Then left-click the "Snow Bird" button. This will clear the Bill To address so you can enter the alternate address. Left-clicking the "Snow Bird" button toggles the two addresses back and forth depending on the time of year.

View Batches Not Posted. If you're using the General Ledger part of the system, it's important to make sure that all of the batches are posted. If they're not, you won't be able to run financial reports. Finding these un-posted batches used to be a bit of a chore. Not any more. Just go to the Main Menu and select "View Batches That Have Not Been Posted" from the drop-down menu under "Bookkeeping".

A reminder . . .

Downloading a new version of the Lynx software. After downloading but before you execute the update, be sure that Lynx is not running on your machine or any other machine in your network. Zero, zip. If you don't do this, the update will fail and you will get an error message. This message means that Lynx was running somewhere on your network (whether it looks like it or not). Close the copies that are running and then re-run the update. If you're still having problems, re-boot each of the machines in your network.

A further reminder . . .

After you have successfully run the update, do this: Bring up Lynx on one machine only. Do not bring up Lynx on any other machine until after the "Updating Tables" window finishes and you are back at the Main Menu. At this point, the other users can get on the system.
